For those who may have missed it: New Statesman issues no.4425 (Feb 26)
through no.4430 (Apr 2) are part of v.128; the v.129 on them was in error.
Vol. 129 will begin in Jan 2000.

Well, they seem to have done it to us again. They changed their volume
numbering at the end of February and now they changed it back! The April
2, 1999 issue was volume 129 # 4430; the April 9, 1999 issue is volume 128
# 4431.
I changed all the issues that say Vol. 129 back to 128. Of course, the
pub will probably come back and say the April 9 issue is mis-marked.

Subject: Thank you (New Statesman)
Thank you to all who have responded to my query. I had some great answers
and the publisher even responded. The publisher stated that v. 12 was
correct and knew nothing about the higher volume enumeration. I am going to
maintain using v.128 and assume they made a mistake. ( I noticed they
changed back to v.128 for the Apr 9 issue) I know the lower volume number
follows the previous title New Statesman and Society which would be helpful
for libraries who follow LC classification but our library chose to follow
the higher vol number. (we whelve alphabetically) Anyone who may know
anything different is more than welcome to state so on the list or post to
me directly. I would like to state my appreciation for this forum for
questions the publisher may not always be able to answer and many times do
not even think about when considering name changes, volume changes, etc. I
wish there were a forum which Serialisters could explain to publishers
about the problems which occur when anything about a serial changes. I do
like being in the detective business!! Thank you all again.
