PROGRAM DESCRIPTION (SESSION 312):
The serials revisions initiated at the International Conference on
the Principles and Future Development of AACR in 1997 are closer to
becoming a reality. Is your Cataloguing Department poised to
incorporate the changes suggested by the AACR Serial Review group?
Are serials as we know them to disappear and be subsumed as a subset
of "ongoing entities"? The digital world dicates a reexamination of
the cataloguing of ongoing publications and the greying of the line
between monograph and serials. The speakers will discuss the
implications and timeline of AACR serial revision and suggest ways
your library can prepare to meet the "ongoing entities" (serial)
challenge.
