Hello,
I responded to Carol of the list, too. This is what I said.

My library is in a small liberal arts college (1350 students). The core
collections were all pretty much in place when I started working here a
few years ago and I haven't added too much, but when I want to cancel
something, I generally check with the dean of the department concerned.
They tell me if something is needed for accreditation or important for
particular courses or if the classes it pertained to are no longer being
offered.

That's what I said to Carol, but in reading the other responses I realize
that I didn't say how I decided to cancel in the first place. I'm basing
most of my decisions at this time on usage and I'm basing usage on things
that never need to be refiled, are always in a neat stack, and I have also
taped some closed to see if anyone ever opens them.
