There is an entry level professional cataloging position
offered at the Library of Virginia:

General Collections Cataloger: $27,204 - $42,471
Creates original catalog records, both monograph and
serials, and applies copy cataloging to library materials,
helping to eliminate Library's backlogs and provide more
complete and accurate database access to materials for the
Library's users.  The backlog materials include a unique
collection of historic and modern Virginiana.  Minimum
qualifications:  Master's degree in library science from an
ALA accredited school is preferred.  A knowledge of
cataloging, technical services, library standards and
operating procedures, and automated library systems is
preferred.  Experience in training and overseeing support
staff preferred.
