Subject: Re: journal barcodes
Kathleen Thorne's query has several possible answers. Annual journals
often carry BOTH an ISBN and an ISSN. The bar code for each one of those
standards is different. The former is encoded in the Bookland EAN used at
retail and wholesale locations, and in some library acquisition systems.
Journals usually carry the SISAC Bar Code Symbol, which really includes
the ISSN and other components that make up the ANSI Standards Serial Item
and Contribution Identifier (SICI).
