SERIALS/INTERLIBRARY LOAN LIBRARIAN (Search Reopened). Delta State
University seeks applications from enegetic, service-oriented individuals
for the position of serials/interlibrary loan librarian. The library
system is composed of four units with construction underway on a $9
million addition to and renovation of the main library. A variety of
technological and new service initiatives are also now in progress.
ENVIRONMENT: Delta State University, one of eight public institutions of
higher learning in Mississippi, has an enrollment of more than 4,000
students, of which approximately 15% are engaged in studies at the
graduate level. The university provides a comprehensive curriculum,
offering 15 baccalaureate degrees in 44 major, eight master's degrees in
nineteen fields, the Educational Specialist degree, and the Doctor of
Education Degree. The city of Cleveland is a friendly community of more
than 15,000 individuals which has been recognized as "one of the 100 best
small towns in America."
RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates all serials-related activities, including
acquisitions, using the Geac ADVANCE Serials Control subsystem, binding,
manages a current periodicals public service desk, assists with management
of electronic journals, and supervises two staff members; oversees
microform collection and services; coordinates all interlibrary loan
related activities and supervises one staff member in that area.
REQUIRED: MLS from an ALA-accredited program; excellent oral, written,
and interpersonal communication skills; working knowledge of serials
management and interlibrary loan operations.
HIGHLY DESIRED: Professional experience with serials control using an
automated library system, interlibrary loan using OCLC as required, and
supervision of others. Relevant experience in an academic library.
12-month position with faculty status and excellent fringe benefits.
