Subject: Request for info on ejournals on OPACS

Hi everyone,
We are in a quandry here. We have been maintaining a serials holdings
list which includes all the serials that we have in print, microform
and CD-ROM.
We also have everything on our OPAC except for those titles that are
ONLY on CD-ROM; they are only in the holdings list.
We now subscribe to a few online databases, one of which is Proquest
Direct.
At this time none of the Fulltext serials from those databases are
included in our OPAC or holdings list.
So my questions are as follows: What are libraries doing conserning
this issue? Are fulltext journals from online databases being cataloged?
What about CD-ROM fulltext journals that are not owned in any other
format? Are holdings lists still being maintained. If students can sit
at one computer with windows and have access to the OPAC and the online
databases, is it necessary to catalog those titles that are only on the
online databases?
If a student does a search on a CD-ROM product and finds a title that is
not fulltext and can then input that title into the online database, is
it necessary to have that title catalogued as well?
Please forgive me if I have repeated myself and I would sincerely
appreciate any help or advice I can get.
Thanks.
