New England Technical Services Librarians (NETSL) is proud to present:
Technical Services in the New Millennium:
Exploring the Electronic Frontier
Friday, April 16, 1999
The College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA
All areas of technical services are affected by new forms of
electronic information: How do we acquire it? Catalog it? Store
it? What are the implications for technical services practitioners
(both professional and paraprofessional) who are challenged by these
new formats of scholarly communication? The Conference will explore
these and other issues confronting technical services librarians.
Clifford Lynch, Executive Director, Coalition for Networked
Information (CNI) will speak on Changes in Scholarly Communication.
Eric Lease Morgan, Systems Librarian, Digital Initiative Department,
North Carolina State University will address various innovations in
web-based information storage; and join Dr. Lynch in the afternoon for
a point/counterpoint discussion. In addition, there will be breakout
sessions on acquisitions, storage and digitization of remote storage
journals, CONSER cataloging, and the role of the paraprofessional in
serials management.
Please save the date. A subsequent announcement will be posted when the
conference registration flyer has been mailed to NETSL members and is
available on the NETSL webpage or, upon request, by US mail.
Registration is $40 for NELA/NETSL members, $50 for non-members, and
