ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL OPENING
POSITION: TECHNICAL SERVICES LIBRARIAN. Northeastern Illinois
University is seeking a professional librarian to assist in the
coordination and performance of duties in the serials unit of technical
services within the Ronald Williams Library. This is a full time,
tenure track appointment in a bargaining unit with an expectation of
ongoing research and service contributions as well as participation in
the development of new library services.
SALARY: Minimum salary, $37,200 Assistant Professor.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include assisting in the coordination
and performance of duties in the acquisition, cataloging, processing,
and maintenance of the serials collection; planning and developing
strategies for migration of serials control to DRA; cataloging other
formats; and participation in collection development in assigned subject
areas.
QUALIFICATIONS: An ALA accredited MLS degree and a second master's
degree are required. Broad technical services background, including
relevant experience with integrated library systems (particularly III
and DRA), library automation, and Internet resources required. Some
cataloging experience required. Demonstrated supervisory and
communication skills required. Experience with LC classification,
electronic resources cataloging, and serial and automation vendors
strongly preferred.
CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY: Northeastern is a state-supported institution
located on the north side of Chicago. It has a culturally diverse
enrollment of over 10,500 students. The Ronald Williams Library
maintains a collection of over 650,000 volumes.
