Subject: Claiming certain titles a little earlier
Replying to the string on how often to claim:
With certain titles it is really risky to wait more
than two weeks. It seems that issues are exhausted
from the claims stock very quickly or the publishers
allow very short claim periods for:
Popular Science
Popular Photography
Travel Holiday
Aviation Week and Space Technology
Publishers Weekly
New Yorker
People Weekly
Science News
Health
I'm sure there are a few other titles that libraries
with different selections might want to add to the
list.
In some cases the publisher will extend the
subscription when it cannot fill your claim, but if
you are binding the title it causes extra work and
worry while you are trying to locate that missing
issue.
I think too that
USA Today
Wall Strret Journal
like to know immediately if you are missing issues.
