We bind about 5500 volumes per year, 3800 of which are periodicals, the
rest are damaged books. We have one student assistant for 13.5 hours per
week plus some help from me (as needed) and sometimes a work study student
(4 hours). We used to use Innopac for serials control and that system could
generate a list of titles to pull for binding (200 titles in about 35
minutes). Now we use Voyager and have to comb the folders to find issues to
bind. We are using about 6-7 hours, maybe less, of extra staff time from
the periodicals desk to accomplish the binding. That's 25 hours total, more
on heavy weeks. We bind every two weeks.
