When I was the librarian at William Tyndale College near Detroit we
purchased a 50,000 volume library from a defunct local college.

We had the student body help us box it up in call # order. We stored it in
a warehouse and gradually integrated it with our collection (we also got
the card catalog)

It was LC, we were Dewey, so we also reclassified our collection. For
choosing material I chose first subjects that were relevant to our
curriculum and in which we were weak. I used Books for College Libraries
extensively. We probably kept half of the collection, primarily humanities
and social sciences. This all took ten years because our staff was limited.

I'd be glad to give you advice. You are in for lots of exciting challenges.
