SERIALS/ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN

The J. Robert Van Pelt Library seeks a Serials/Acquisitions Librarian to
oversee acquisition activities and end processing for all library
materials, direct and manage the cataloging and processing of all serials,
provide leadership for the continuing development of serials/acquisitions
automation, and work closely with Collection Management staff.

REQUIRED
Master's degree from an ALA accredited institution or information science
program. Two years professional experience working in serials cataloging,
serials management and/or acquisitions. Experience working with automated
bibliographic utilities (e.g. OCLC). Demonstrated knowledge of AACR2, LC
classification, LCSH and USMARC formats; library trends in an electronic
environment; and current automated library systems. Demonstrated competence
in current library technology applications. Demonstrated ability to
function in a collaborative, service-oriented environment and to adapt to a
frequently changing environment. Excellent interpersonal, problem solving,
team leadership, and written/oral communication skills.

DESIRABLE
Professional experience in a research or an academic library in one of the
following areas:
serials, cataloging or acquisitions. Experience using the library
management system Voyager. Demonstrated knowledge of the National Serials
Cataloging Standards (CONSER). Demonstrated ability to work effectively as
part of a team as well as independently. Demonstrated commitment to the
service and educational roles of academic libraries.
