Subject: Electronic Journals in Higher education Research
Dear Serials Librarian
Based at Liverpool John Moores University, we are currently researching
into the usage, evaluation, management, benefits and constraints of
electronic journals in higher education establishments in the UK and North
America. Initially a questionnaire based survey is being used.
The UK element of the survey has been conducted and initial findings were
reported at the recent IFLA conference and will shortly be published in 'New
Library World' and 'Collection Building'.
We sent postal questionnaires to a sample of North American higher education
institutions, and the response
has been disappointing. We need urgently need more respondents to make the
research viable. If you have received a survey questionnaire please complete
it and return it to us. If you have not received a questionnaire, but would
be willing to participate and you are responsible for serials in a higher
education institution please contact colin@cofilang.demon.co.uk specifying
if you would like the e-mail version of the questionnaire or one sending by
mail. We would be delighted to hear from you. The findings of the research
should be of interest to all those responsible for serials. We would like to
thank those that have already responded.
