        CATALOGING INTERNET RESOURCES FOR YOUR LOCAL CATALOG

                 A Workshop co-sponsored by
   California Library Association, ACTSS Cataloging Interest Group
                             and
         North American Serials Interest Group (NASIG)

This full-day workshop will provide the experienced cataloger with the
information necessary to catalog Internet resources.  Discussions of local
implementation issues, special considerations for copy cataloging and the
bibliographic nature of these resources will provide a context for
understanding the current cataloging environment.  In-depth examination of
relevant MARC tagging and AACR2 rules; hands-on exercises will provide
experience in applying current cataloging standards to actual Internet
resources.

SPEAKERS: Steve Shadle, Serials Cataloger at the University of Washington
          Greta deGroat, Electronic Media Cataloger at Stanford University

DATE/LOCATION: The workshop will be given twice:

          Wednesday, Sept. 16 at University of California, Davis
                         and
          Friday, Sept. 18 at Occidental College, Los Angeles

TIME:     9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
          (coffee and pastries beginning at 8:30 a.m.)

COST:     $20 for ACTSS or NASIG members
          $30 for non-members

          Workshop cost includes lunch.

WORSHOP CAPACITY: 40 participants per site on first-come, first served
basis.  A waiting list will be created if more than 40 paid registrations
are received.

Email registrations must be followed up by sending a check payable to
CALIFORNIA LIBRARY ASSOCIATION ACTSS for the registration fee within 2
weeks in order to hold your spot.  Registrations not paid by Sept. 4 will
be made available to other persons.  Upon receipt of payment, a
confirmation will be mailed which contains directions to the site, parking
instructions and a receipt.
