CONSER and BIBCO Operations Summaries Available

On May 7-8, 1998 the CONSER Operations Committee and the newly-formed BIBCO
Operations Committee met at the Library of Congress in shared and separate
sessions. During the first joint session, Jean Hirons and Regina Reynolds
presented their thinking on how to divide the bibliographic universe to
accommodate new forms of publications. CONSER topics included the revision of
AACR2 in relation to serials, a new entry convention for title changes, and
providing access to full-text databases of electronic journals. BIBCO
participants discussed the expansion of BIBCO, encouraging use of the core
record, and developing documentation relating to BIBCO.

Both summaries are now available on the Web. The CONSER summary is available
at: http://lcweb.loc.gov/acq/conser/conop98.html. The BIBCO summary is
available at: http://lcweb.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/bibcomeeting98.html.
