The Acquisitions Committee and the Education Committee of ALCTS Serials
Section invite you to its program at Annual Conference entitled, "What
Do You Mean, ' I'm in Charge of Serials?!'" CLENERT (Continuing Library
Education Network and Exchange Round Table) is a co-sponsor.
Date/Time: Saturday, June 27, 1998, 2-4 pm
Place: Doubletree Park Terrace Hotel, Terrace Ballroom (1515 Rhode
Island Avenue NW)
Targeting those responsible for delivering training to serials staff,
three serialists share their approaches and tips for 1) getting up to
speed yourself if you are a new serials librarian, 2) training new staff
in serials, or 3) cross-training staff who already work in your library.
Next, an expert trainer gives advice for good training regardless of the
subject area. Finally, a questions and answer sessions allows for
discussion. You will leave with a better understanding not only of the
type of training needed for new staff members but also of how to deliver
it effectively.
Speakers are:
Laura Sill, Serials Librarian, University of Notre Dame
Marie Cimino Spina, Assistant Head of Acquisitions and Receiving
Supervisor, Elmer Bobst Library, New York University
Jett McCann, Brand Manager for Standing Orders, EBSCO Information
Services
Mary Moore, Training Coordinator, Washington State Library
