TITLE:    Librarian II, Head, Acquistions Department
LOCATION: Technical Services Division, McKeldin Library
CATEGORY: Associate Staff, Full-Time, (12 Month Appointment)
SALARY:   Commensurate with experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for the administration of a comprehensive
acquisitions department in the Technical Services Division of the UM
Libraries.  The department consists of four major units:  Serials;
Order/Receiving; Payments; and Special Processes.  The Acquisitions
Department Head is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing
programs for all aspects of procurement of library material for the UM
Libraries.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Required:  ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library
Science.  At least five years of progressively responsible experience in
an academic or research library, at least two of which must have been at
the managerial level.  In-depth knowledge of acquisition practices and
procedures and comprehensive knowledge of acquisitions issues.  Thorough
knowledge of book and subscription trade required.  Extensive experience
in automated acquisitions systems.

BENEFITS:  22 days annual leave and 3 personal days; 14 paid holidays; 15
