Catalog Librarian, University of Idaho Library
As one of four catalog librarians in the Technical Services Department
of the University of Idaho Library, does original cataloging of library
materials on various subjects, and in a variety of formats including
monographs, electronic resources, audiovisual materials, and
cartographic materials, using WLN, Library of Congress Classification
and Subject Headings. Participates in planning, problem-solving,
policy-making, and governance activities. Librarians have faculty rank
and are on tenure track, and engage in scholarly activities including
research and publication, and in professional activities at the regional
and national level, as well as participating in faculty governance in
the library and on campus.
Required qualifications: ALA-MLS; knowledge of automated cataloging
procedures; knowledge of AACR2R, Library of Congress Classification and
Subject Headings; excellent communication skills; interest in academic
libraries.
Desired qualifications: Knowledge of one modern European foreign
language; experience with personal computer applications including
Internet applications.
Salary and benefits: $26,500. State life and health insurance, state or
TIAA-CREF retirement.
The University of Idaho is a land grant university with a student
population of 10,000. The main campus is located in Moscow with
instructional centers in Coeur d'Alene, Boise, and Idaho Falls. Moscow,
a community of 18,000, is located in the Palouse Hills area of north
