This is certainly a valid concern. I once published a monthly magazine for a
professional association. We did a membership directory as our June issue.
It was clearly marked as Vol ? No. 6, but because it was a directory and a
lot thicker than the regular issues, it often got shelved separately. Then,
when everyone was collecting their issues for binding, we got a lot of
claims for missing issue No. 6. I sent form letters explaining what No. 6
looked like, and very few of the claimants were really missing it, once they
understood.

You can't be too careful in communicating with subscribers, especially
institutional ones.
