The University of Texas at Arlington Libraries has the following

Department Head, Acquisitions and Cataloging Services
Description: The Libraries seek an individual with energy and vision
to provide leadership for a staff of six professionals and nineteen
classified positions. The Acquisitions and Cataloging Services
Department is responsible for acquiring and making accessible
monographic, serial, government publications, electronic, and
non-print materials. The information resources budget for
1997-98 is approximately $1,775,000. This person works with staff to
identify and execute short and long range goals, participates in
library management discussions, and is responsible for monitoring the
budget areas of the department. The successful candidate will
actively participate in the discussions as the Libraries' move toward
the Digital Library. The position reports to the Associate Director
for Central Library Services.
Salary: Negotiable to the mid $40,000's depending upon
qualifications. Includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications: Required: MLS from an ALA accredited library
school. Progressively responsible professional experience in
managing staff in acquisitions, cataloging, government publications,
or serials; outstanding communication and interpersonal skills;
experience in working in a team setting.
Preferred: Some involvement in a system migration, as we are moving
from NOTIS to Endeavor's Voyager.
UTA Libraries: The UTA Libraries is one of the largest academic
research libraries in North Texas, consisting of a central library
and two branches. It serves a community of more than 700 full-time
faculty and approximately 19,000 students with a collection of over a
million volumes. Arlington, Texas is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth
metropolitan area and is located mid-way between the two cities. The
