Subject: Library Journal Microfilm
Good morning,
I am a serials copy cataloger at Indiana University Purdue University
Indianapolis. I am cataloging several reels of microfilm for Library
Journal to fill in gaps of our paper holdings. In OCLC, there are 3
records for titles that cover the period for which these reels
cover...namely, Library Journal 1876-1974 (OCLC #1755854), LJ, LIbrary
Journal 1974-1976 (OCLC #2171727) and Library Journal 1976- (OCLC
#2351916). But for the microfilm, there is only one record for the entire
serial, 1876- , (OCLC #3652621). The record for the microfilm has notes
for the time periods for all 3 print title manifestations. Also, this
record was entered in 1978, after the appearance of the 3rd title of the
print version. I would have thought that there would be 3 microfilm
records to match the 3 print records, but obviously this is not what has
been done. Can anyone explain to me why there is only one microfilm
record?
Thanks.
