Editor's. note: In reply to Ms. Lewis, below, in one of the combined/
digested messages posted yesterday on this topic, a contributor did in
fact write (and I cut & paste), "We use III and so far there is no
provision for anything other than minimal messages." The original full
text of this digested message, which had just been posted as the previous
message, was removed from the subsequent digest (a moderated decision) in
which Ms. Lewis' message appeared. I apologize for any confusion,
however, you can always find references to original text from the
archives, which are updated with each posted message and maintained at:

Peace.

Correct me if I'm mistaken here, but a least one respondent DID say that
III only allows BRIEF notes for serials. I myself was merely describing
the excellent record shielding and serials notation capabilities of
HORIZON. One always hears that III is the ultimate system for serials.
And since when are we into rating each other's comments to the List?

I don't know how anyone got the impression that III can't deal with
unsolicited materials. There have been several workable solutions
presented, including mine in the first set of replies. I make a dummy brief
record(which I suppress)and enter the titles as Alternate titles. It is
very easy, and the command 'Toss!' appears as soon as the title is typed.
Some of the replies(such as Helen's from Australia)were very well thought
out solutions.
