We keep a list of discarded materials in a Wordperfect file. If something
doesn't show up in the online catalog we check the "Discard" list. We keep
the discard list on a shared drive so any department staff member can look
at it.

Using III,(Innovative),I make brief bib records(junkmail, titles under
consideration, etc.)which are suppressed and have a note saying, 'toss' or
'give to superv.'. Then I enter the individual titles as alternate titles.

This is a very good question. Right now, we write it on a piece of paper!
and post it beside the computer used for serials receipt! Many times the
serials assistant fails to read this sheet and she leaves it for me. But
I'd really hate to "create" a record for discarding unsolicited titles or
those that come with something else.
