Question on Annals of Dentistry of the N.Y. Academy of Dentistry Anne C. Bunting 04 Dec 1997 21:08 UTC

We have been claiming Annals of Dentistry v.55 #1-2, Combined 1996 (Titled
75th Anniversary Issue per the publisher.)

v.54 #1-2 was for Summer/Fall, 1995. It has articles with abstracts and
bibliographies, photographs and 72 pages.

On October 28, 1997 we received an issue of Annals of Dentistry with no
volume number, only October 1997 on the cover. The editor's message on
page 1 says "It is unrealistic to believe that, with this issue of the
'new' Annals, we have accomplished all that we can in improving this
publication. This first issue should rather be viewed as a radical first
stage in an otherwise gradual metamorphosis. We would hope to build on
this modest beginning by including more articles, authored exclusively by
Fellows of the Academy..."

This issue is nothing like any previous ones and appears to mainly just be
a news letter about the New York Academy of Dentistry. It only has 8
pages.

My question is -- is this 8 page Annals of Dentistry the issue we have
been claiming? If so, this is not a journal that will be of any use in
our collection. I realize it only costs $20.00 but! Or was this just
sent out to let us know there will be a different type of issue for the
75th anniversary?
