Subject: Serial Cataloging Position, Harvard College Library
The following serial cataloging position is available in the Serials
Cataloging Team, Cataloging Services Department, Harvard College Library.
Harvard College Library, Cataloging Services Department, Serials
Cataloging Team. Reporting to Serials Cataloging Team Leader, catalogs
serial publications in all formats and in several languages.
Responsibilities include CONSER and CONSER Core cataloging and associated
authority and holdings work to national standards using AACR2,LCCS, LCSH,
and the USMARC Formats. Catalogues standard workflow titles and catalogues
for special projects as needed. Participates in training/supervision of
bibliographic and student assistants and in workflow. Contributes to team
effort by accomplishing related duties as required. REQUIREMENTS: MLS for
ALA-accredited library school or equivalent; strong reading knowledge of
Romance languages; excellent verbal/written English language skills; two+
years cataloging experience including CONSER cataloging, preferably in
large research library; thorough knowledge of cataloging
tools/standards/conventions; mastery in provision of academic information
services through online catalogs; knowledge of trends in serials
publishing/related serials management issues; open-minded, flexible
attitude and ability to work with others to promote effective
collaborative and collegial environment; excellent
organizational/interpersonal skills. Send letter, resume and name of
