Apologies re. File: "SERIALST LIST" blunder

Dear Subscribers:
Earlier this afternoon, I made an inadvertent mistake in forwarding to the
list the full subscriber listing of names, e-mail address, and the list's
keyword headers (essentially the full subscriber list and many of the
computer code words that make it run). I apologize for transmitting a 2700
line message. I had been working on updating the subscriber statistics on
the SERIALST Web pages ... and instead of loading a piece of this file to
the web directory, I ended up inadvertently sending the whole thing to the
list. Profuse apologies.
To compensate for this blunder, I have just finished updating & modifying
the message in the archives -- essentially by deleting all reference to
subscriber names and addresses in that message (so if you look at the
message archives, you can retrieve the message, but it will only contain
subscriber statistics, broken down by country). This reduced the file size
from 2700 to 111 lines -- which should make the file more manageable for
those with limited disk space. Too late ... but maybe late is better than
never.
Again, I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience. It's just one of
those grey, bluesy, verging-on-the-edge-of-winter November days here in
Vermont ... And I've had my one forgetful moment in pushing the wrong key.
This has already led to an hour or two of tortured penance in reparations.
Enough! I hope by the time you read this, your e-mail systems will have
recovered and all will be right with the world.
Contritely, from a lapsed listowner,
