William Paterson University of New Jersey invites applications for the
following position:

Head of Technical Services

Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the Head of Technical
Services is responsible for the overall supervision of a fully automated
technical services unit, including acquisitions, cataloging, processing of
library materials and serials.  The primary function of this position is
to provide leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating
departmental operations and services; setting goals, developing
initiatives and establishing priorities in these areas.  Primary liaison
with OCLC and Palinet.  Supervises four full-time professionals, 11
full-time support staff and other part-time staff.  Participates in
collection development activities and user education programs.

Required qualifications include ALA-accredited MLS and second master's
degree or ABD; five or more years professional library experience with
demonstrated proficiency in a technical services area including
substantial knowledge of cataloging; increasingly responsible supervisory
exeprience with library professional and support staff, preferably in an
academic library; thorough knowledge of online integrated library systems
(preferably DRA), bibliographic utilities and networks (preferably OCLC);
evidence of strong communication and organizational skills; and the
ability to work with all personnel in a collegial, consultative
collaborative team environment.

The salary range is $43,922-$65,892.  This is a 12-month, tenure-track
