Newspaper Cataloger, University of Florida. Time-limited, NEH funded
position (July 1997 - June 1999), part of the US Newspaper Program.
Responsibilities: Completion of inventories and on-line cataloging of
newspapers throughout the state of Florida including authority work
requiring travel; monitoring OCLC/OPAC records; frequent editing of
information in the Florida Newspaper Project database; report writing;
maintaining USNP/Florida homepage (http://www.uflib.ufl.edu/flnews/).
QUALIFICATIONS: ALA/MLS or BA and five years experience cataloging
serials and/or serials maintenance; analytical skills and effectiveness
in planning and problem solving; cataloging experience and/or serial
maintenance; ability to work well in the complex environment of an
academic research library; ability to interact effectively with people
outside the University as well as with students, faculty, and library
staff; valid driver's license. Preferred: Microcomputer database
experience; reading knowledge of a romance language (Spanish preferred);
HTML experience.
BENEFITS: Non-tenure accruing, Visiting Instructor Librarian. Thirteen
days sick leave annually. TIAA/CREF or other retirement options, usual
insurance benefits, no state or local income tax. Salary: $28000 minimum.
