In the interest of a little research I am doing, I would like to pose
a brief, informal survey to those of you who would be so kind as to
respond. The questions concern claiming. Thanks in advance for your
help. Answers may be as brief as you like.

1. Is your serials check-in automated? If yes, please proceed with
the following questions. If not (and be honest!), thank you for your
time.

2. Is your serials check-in module a stand-alone, or part of an integrated
system?

3. Does your serials module feature automatic claiming and/or late notices?

4. Do you use: a. automated claims, or b. automated late notice
(the former generates actual claims, the latter merely lists late or
skipped issues based on predictive check-in or action intervals.)

5. In what year did you implement your current check-in module?

6. Do you keep claims statistics? If yes, please proceed.

7. Have you documented an increase or decrease in claims generated since
you implemented automated check-in? Can you supply data to support either
trend?

8. Has the fill rate for claims increased, stayed about the same, or
decreased since implementing automated check-in. (Fill rate is defined
as receiving missed issues in response to actual claims. Remember, this
is not a scientific poll.)

9. Does your library keep statistics on how many Interlibrary Loan
transactions are generated by missing issues? If so, can you document
and increase or decrease in this typle of ILL activity for your library?

10. Do you check in and claim electronic journals through your automated
serials module?

That's all, folks! Thanks for your time, even if you only read the
questions, and deleted the message. (But BIG thanks if you completed
the brief questionnaire!)
