How about Ulrich's and/or Ebsco's Serials Directory?

Perhaps you could try searching Ulrich Plus by the subjects i.e., science,
physics, medicine, etc.

Mary Page asked how many science periodicals exist.
My acquisitions/collection development librarian suggested the Bowker
Annual as a resource. Good luck!

Mary,
A couple of years ago, I did a paper for library school regarding the
explosion in medical and science journals. I remember information in an
article by the editor? of JAMA in which they stated that at that time there
were approximately 100,000 journals world wide. I do not have that
paper anymore, but possibly you could do a search of JAMA in the past
5 years or so having to do with medical literature.
I hope this helps.
