THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GREY LITERATURE
"Perspectives on the Design and Transfer
of Scientific and Technical Information"
Jean Monnet Building, Luxembourg, 13-14 November 1997
Grey literature "that which is produced on all levels of government,
academics, business and industry, etc. but which is not controlled
by commercial publishers" will convene its third international forum
hosted by the European Union. Representatives from more than twenty-
five countries are currently registered.
Grey Literature will be examined in the context of knowledge transfer
aimed at industrial innovation. The scope of knowledge transfer reaches
beyond the more commonly used notion of technology transfer to include
knowledge about management, marketing, markets, government regulations
and many other factors affecting industrial performance.
Some argue that grey literature will become more important than
published literature; others disagree. GL'97 will reflect on the
underlying developments, their effects on actors in the information
chain, and the consequences for the future role of grey literature
and for grey literature professions. Finally, policy implications
for the information society, notably in the context of the
European Union will be addressed.
PROGRAM OUTLINE
Session 1: Grey Literature for Technology Transfer and Innovation
