POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director for Technical Services
Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Library
Cleveland State University
DEPARTMENT: Law Library
REPORTS TO: Law Library Director
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master in Library Science (M.L.S.)
or equivalent from an ALA Accredited Program. Experience in a library
as either a Head of Technical Services or an Assistant Head of Technical
Services or equivalent library Technical Services administrative experience.
Experience working with the Innovative Interfaces Library System.
Strong record of successful leadership in Library Technical Services.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience at the Head
or Assistant Head level in the Technical Services department
of a law school library. Hands-on experience in cataloging,
acquisitions, serials, and/or bindery in an automated environment.
Experience with legal materials. Experience or interest in
maintaining a budget. The vision and ability to strive for excellence.
DUTIES: Provide outstanding leadership to the Law Library's
Technical Services department. Responsible for the direction of
all aspects of Technical Services including cataloging, acquisitions,
serials, bindery, preservation and storage of library materials, as
well as the Law Library's automation activities with OCLC, III,
and OhioLink. Advises the director on matters of planning, policy,
and technology affecting the department and/or the Law Library.
Other duties as assigned.
SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications
and experience.
