POSITION INFORMATION AND DESCRIPTION

TITLE:
Acquisitions/ Serials Librarian (Non-tenured, faculty-status)
Georgia State University Law Library,

QUALIFICATIONS:
ALA-accredited MLS and evidence of ability to meet standards
which would lead to promotion required; acquisitions and/or
serials experience in an automated law library environment,
strong communications skills, and prior supervisory experience
highly preferred.

DUTIES:
The successful candidate will join a team of six full-time
librarians in the College of Law Library.  The
Acquisitions/Serials Librarian is responsible for coordinating
all acquisitions activities, including: ordering, receipt,
check-in, claims, and payments for library materials.  Manages
all serial control activities, including check-in, routing, and
binding.  Responsible for publisher and vendor relations,
selecting vendors and evaluating their performance.  Acts as
liaison to the University's business office, monitoring the
library's materials budget, keeping statistics and preparing
appropiate reports.  The Acquisitions/Serials Librarian
supervises two full-time staff members and is responsible for
their hiring, training, evaluation, and all personnel matters
concerning the department.  In addition to departmental duties,
the Acquisitions/Serials Librarian provides reference service one
evening per week, or as needed, and participates in bibliographic
instruction through Lexis and Westlaw training sessions and
giving instructional tours of the law library.

SALARY/ COMPENSATION:
Salary commensurate with experience.  Choice of TIAA-CREF or
Georgia Teachers Retirement plan.  Tuition remission program.
