Title change question Suzanne Gallagher 31 Aug 1997 15:42 UTC

"The Journal of adventure education and outdoor leadership" (OCLC #25483617)
has changed its title (sort of). The new title is "Horizons : practical
and informative outdoor education" with a note in a box that says,
"incorporating The Journal of adventure education and outdoor
leadership, Vol. 14, no. 1. Spring 1997." The cover says, "Horizons
incorporating The journal of adventure education and outdoor leadership
Volume 14 No. 1."

Of course, the ISSN hasn't changed; and, to make matters worse, the
editorial page says "During 1997 Horizons will evolve into a
practical and informative read for practitioners ... This issue also
incorporates the research, theory and philosophy papers of the Journal
of Adventure Education and Outdoor Leadership. Later in the year this
section will form the heart of a new professional and academic
journal."

I've entered a record for the new title (OCLC #37501734), but am not sure
exactly how to handle several points.

First, should it be considered as a continuation or absorption?

Second, I used a 740 for the "Journal of adventure..." title because it
consisted of only part of Horizons. It is entered as a running title
(complete with numbering) on the first half of the publication; "Horizons"
(also with numbering) is the running title for the second half. Maybe I
should have entered two 246's with a second indicator of 7?

Third, I'm uncertain about how to handle the dual numbering system. Should
that be in a 515?

Thanks for any suggestions.
