SERIALS CATALOGER, PRINCIPAL:  The University of Wyoming Library is
seeking applicants for the position of Principal Serials Cataloger.
This position will be responsible for training and supervising other
serials cataloging staff including the planning, organizing and
supervising of special serials cataloging and serials maintenance
projects.  The position will catalog and classify serial titles in any
language acquired by the library and resolve difficult serials
cataloging and serials maintenance problems.  The Library uses OCLC and
has a CARL OPAC.  Librarians hold faculty status with expectations for
scholarship and service.

REQUIRED:  MLS degree from an ALA accredited program or an acceptable
equivalent combination of education and experience.  A minimum of three
years professional serials cataloging experience.  Demonstrated
managerial skills including supervision of professional and support
staff.  Knowledge of Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, 2nd ed., Library
of Congress Classification, LC Subject Headings, CONSER rules and other
bibliographic tools.  Knowledge of current trends in library science and
automated cataloging.  Experience with MARC tagging.  OCLC experience.
Experience with an automated serials system.  Knowledge of the serials
trade.

PREFERRED:  Serials cataloging and serials work experience in medium to
large academic library.  Reading knowledge of modern European foreign
languages.  One year management of serials cataloging unit.

SALARY:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience; $30,000.00
minimum; 12 month appointment, 22 days vacation, sick leave, group
health insurance, state and TIAA CREF retirement plans, no state income
tax.

ENVIRONMENT:  The University of Wyoming is the only four year
institution of higher education in the state; nine colleges and schools
form the foundation for its education and research programs.  The
University, a land grant institution, has placed special emphasis on a
number of cross-disciplinary programs.  The University's library
collections total over 1,150,000 volumes.  Laramie, a city of 26,000
located 130 miles northwest of Denver, offers a reasonable cost of
living and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of a small city combined
with the cultural and community activities associated with the
University.
