1997 ALA SAN FRANCISCO ALCTS PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT
The ALCTS Acquisitions Section, Acquisitions Organization and Management
Committee is sponsoring a program entitled "Prepare -- Negotiate -- Evaluate
-- Succeed: The Many Sides of the Negotiation Table!" on Saturday, June 28,
1997 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Westin St. Francis Hotel, Colonial
Room.
Librarians are facing increasing situations in which they must negotiate for
library materials and services. Observe the successes and pitfalls that occur
when an acquisitions librarian, a dean of libraries, and a lawyer negotiate
with a bibliographic utility representative, a book vendor, and an integrated
library systems vendor to acquire books and bibliographic records that are
