Subject: Typewriter advice needed
Dear Serialsters:
You read correctly; I said "typewriter." Do any of you, especially in
smaller libraries, still use one? If so, have you replaced it recently? We
still use a typewriter for catalog cards, forms, etc. & must finally replace
our 15-year-old (now terminally ill) IBM Correcting Selectric III, which had
a separate platen specially designed to hold cards.
The typewriter vendor that our hospital uses is recommending an IBM
Wheelwriter 1000. Does anyone out there have experience with it? My
main concern is whether it will hold the cards securely so that I can type
even near the bottom when necessary. If you are not familiar with this
particular model, do you have any other suggestions for me?
Please respond directly to me : gorvine@email.chop.edu - if at all
possible within the next few days, as we'd like to place our order before
6/30 (end of fiscal year, etc.)
I suspect that this is a topic in which there won't be sufficient interest for
me to summarize & post to the list, but I'll gladly do so if I'm proven wrong.
Thanks as always, & happy weekend to everyone. - Natalie
