Subject: Binding without an automated system

Hello Serialsters.

I have only worked in Serials for three years and have always used
Innovative's Innopac system for managing the collection. Our library has
decided to change to a new integrated library system. The Serials component
was not a concern (among the powers that be) and we are now moving to a
system that does NOT have a bindery module.

Innopac could print out a list of titles and the issues that should be
pulled for binding. This was very handy. How do libraries determine what
titles and issues are ready for binding when their library system can not do
it for them?

We have 2165 titles that we bind. We've been sending items to the bindery
every two weeks for the past four years. We don't have the space to send
things to the bindery a few times a year. Combing through the folders
weekly seems very labor intensive and inefficient. Please help. Reply to
me or the list.

Thanks,

Mark
