Title:  Document & Database Librarian

Responsible for team leadership, journals, document delivery, interlibrary
loan, statistical analysis, creating and using relational databases that
support other functions, coordinating selection and acquisition of
abstract and indexes, full text and electronic databases, and cataloging.
Promotes teamwork and team service improvements.   Position is hands on,
but also gives work direction as required to library technical assistant
and student staff.   Reports to the Assistant University Librarian or the
University Librarian, as designated.

Minimum Qualifications:
1.  Masters in Library or Information Science  (ALA accredited)
2.  Minimum two years library experience.
3.  Significant recent interlibrary loan (esp. OCLC) and document delivery
experience and knowledge.
4.  Significant original cataloging experience and knowledge.
5.  Significant journal acquisition and claiming experience and knowledge.
6.  Significant knowledge and experience with systems and processes.
7.  Excellent interpersonal skills
8.  Excellent computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, serials
systems/modules, etc.).
9.  Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
1.  Advanced skills preferred: word processing, integrated library system,
HTML, spreadsheets, OCLC interlibrary loan, document delivery.
2.  Experience in developing applications using relational databases
including design, construction, and implementation.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Percentages and duties are only illustrative and may change regularly and
without notice.

30%  Journals
Responsible for all aspects of journals including but not limited to
coordinating journal selection/cancellation process, acquisitions,
claiming, shelving, and developing and maintaining databases for the
analysis of journal use.  Works closely with and gives work direction to
other members of the Article Team in accomplishing these duties.

35% Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery
Responsible for interlibrary loan, obtaining articles from commercial
document delivery sources and developing and maintaining databases for the
analysis of article/document use.

15%  Abstracts and Indexes, Full Text, and Electronic Databases
Responsible for all activities associated with providing desired library
abstracts and indexes, CD-ROMs, full text commercial database
subscriptions, and other on-line or networked information sources.

20%  Cataloging
Supports the Book Team through original cataloging and back up copy
cataloging and other related activities as assigned.
