Subject: Engineering Designer: help!

I have a question for anyone whose library subscribes/subscribed to
Engineering Designer, a British journal sponsored by the Institution of
Engineering Designers: there are 2 OCLC records for this title, neither
with an LCCN.

History of the title: it started in 1950, published by the Institution
of Engineering Designers. In Aug. 1975, it switched publishers and
started using volume/issue designation (vol. 1, no. 1 (Aug. 1975) and
continuing).

One of the records (#1774731) begins with 1950, and continues through
the present, and seems to encompass both publishers and both the
non-volume numbered and the later numbered volumes; the other one
(#5011192) begins with Aug. 1975, when the journal changed publishers,
and has a note stating that it "supersedes a publication with the same
title...." -- but there is NO record for only the first 1950-1975 part.

Do you consider it all one publication? or do you use the 1975- record?
If you use that one, what do you do with the 1950-July 1975 volumes?

We've had this forever, (well, since 1950...); it didn't come up in 1975
as a problem, so I've just found it. AAARGH the hidden wonders of the
serials world...

Thanks in advance --
