Librarians here have to work on additional degrees, unless they come with
a second Master's already in hand, if they want to get tenure. (Yes, we
are faculty members.) If your question means may they get those degrees
here, the answer is yes. (We don't offer anything beyond a few Master's
programs.)

At the University of Rhode Island the professional librarians are full
members of the faculty. We can work on advamced degrees in fields other
than ours at University expense, currently have one working on an MBA
and have had others in areas.
