I am newly signed on to SERIALST and so do not know what has been
discussed in the past. I would appreciate replies to this message
directly to me at:

I need to know various libraries policies on the issuing of
periodicals. University of Cape Town, South Africa currently issues
older periodicals for a week, and current issues overnight. We are
planning to stop all issuing of periodicals and are interested in any
advise that others can give us.
So, some of my questions:
1) Is your periodicals collection closed or open access?
2) Do you issue periodicals, if so for how long?
3) If you don't allow issues, what services do you offer? Self-
service and Full-service photocopying? How many photocopiers per
library patron? What about full colour photocopiers; are they
necessary?
Any ideas and suggestions on this subject will be greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to hearing from the world out there.
Sincerely
Caroline Dean
