Worst Serial Title of the CENTURY!!! Margaret Mering 11 Apr 1997 16:52 UTC

Is there a title change that sticks out in your mind, one that you're
still talking about after ten years? How about repeat offenders, chronic
flip flops, hopeless messes? As part of the upcoming 40th anniversary
celebration of ALCTS, we are soliciting nominations for the Worst Serial
Title Change of the CENTURY.

The Worst Serial Title Change of the CENTURY Committee will be presenting
several awards, including the Worst of the Worst (selected from those
previously honored by the WSTCY Committee), the Worst of the Snake in the
Grass, and the Worst of the Overlooked (titles that have not been
previously honored but are, nonetheless, deserving). This last category
is a special award for title changes that have been fermenting in your
catalogs, waiting until they are ripe, like a good limburger cheese,
title changes so horrible that no one dared to send them in before. We're
counting on you dedicated keepers of the bibliographically correct flame
to ferret them out and send them in by the deadline of June 1, 1997.

So put on your thinking caps, this is your chance to get back at those
capricious publishing practices that make us all crazy.
