The goal of this preconference is to demonstrate that generation and use of statistics are not difficult, and further, that the effort to create useful statistics has practical applications for managing today's libraries from support for decision-making to projecting collection use. Objectives are: providing an introduction to the uses of statistics in librarianship; giving practical tips on gathering and analyzing data; showing how managers can use statistics in planning and decision-making; demonstrating effective techniques for statisical presentations. AUDIENCE Those who generate management statistics and reports, and administrators who use them in all types of libraries.
