Re: Circulating periodical issues to faculty Anne C. Bunting 28 Apr 1997 17:34 UTC

I am at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Library in
Memphis. They were circulating the current journals to
faculty when I came here in 1966. It seems we put them on the
current shelf for one week and then circulated them to
different departments from lists they provided. It was a
pain. We put them out to be picked up on a Monday afternoon
or Tuesday a.m. and they were supposed to return them on
Friday. Most of the time we had to call to get them back. It
took some journals a month to make the rounds. We were a lot
smaller then. I can't imagine doing it in a larger
university. One staff member handled this on those days but
it began to take two. We celebrated when we stopped this
service and the complainers seemed to adapt.
