University of Colorado at Denver
Auraria Library

The Auraria Library seeks an energetic, service-oriented librarian with
primary responsibility for the management of the periodicals public
service area and the bindery operation.  The periodicals collection
contains 3000+ current titles.  Additional responsibilities include
supervision of four library technicians and student workers, extensive
staff training in the use of print, electronic and online periodical
resources, and participation in other serials projects.  Contributes to
the profession through professional service and scholarly activities.
This is a new position, with exciting possibilities to develop and enhance
periodicals public service.  Service desk work, including some evenings or
weekends.

REQUIRED:  ALA-accredited MLS; management/supervisory experience and/or
training; 2 years experience in either 1) periodicals public service, 2)
serials work with an interest in public service, or 3) reference work with
an interest in periodicals; excellent written, oral and interpersonal
communication skills; ability to manage change and to work well in a team
environment; familiarity with current developments in accessing periodical
literature.

BACKGROUND:  Auraria Library supports the programs of the University of
Colorado at Denver, Metropolitan State College of Denver, and the
Community College of Denver.  The student population is approximately
35,000.  This urban campus reflects the multicultural population of the
metro area.

SALARY/BENEFITS:  $32,100-40,975 for a 12-month faculty appointment,
depending on education and experience.  Tuition benefits, sick leave, 22
vacation days, TIAA/CREF.
