Hello:

In response to Valarie Adams question re: binding incomplete volumes my
answer is that this library does not have incomplete volumes commercially
bound. A commercially bound volume is rather misleading because it probably
does not indicate that it is incomplete. On occasion I have been tripped up
when purchasing bound backfile, only to receive it to find it is incomplete
and I must, then, return it. For the patron it can also be very confusing.

For incomplete volumes we use the Advanced Handi-Bind equipment to bind the
issues between "speedy" pamphlet binders. We, then, label the volume with
the title, volume/no., year and a note stating what is missing. This is
less expensive than commercial binding and keeps the issues together for
easy shelving. Also the issues do not wander. If the missing parts are
ever obtained the volume can be easily bound commercially.

Hope this helps somewhat in your decisions.
