Subject: Serials Section Committee to Study Serials Standards

The ALCTS Serials Section Committee to Study Serials Standards will be
meeting on Friday, February 14, 1997, from 8-10 p.m., in the Renaissance
Washington, Room 14.

Agenda items include:

1. Discuss new standards (Z39.26, Micropublishing Product Information;
request for publishers to put expiration dates on periodical labels)

2. Finalize joint proposal from CONSER and the Committee for NISO to form
a committee to develop a standard for E-serials

3. ISSN - should we adopt the ISO standard or have a separate U.S. one?

4. We are compiling a bibliography of standards relating to serials work
and will be reviewing the drafts of our respective sections.

5. Conference plans for 1998 - ideas for programs?

Please join us.  Everyone interested in standards and serials - and that
should mean EVERYONE! - is welcome.
