Re: UMI microfiche, silver, vesicular / MICROCARD printing Valerie Mickelberg 06 Feb 1997 17:19 UTC

Today I called UMI and asked them about storing the two different
types of Microfilm together and they told me they have never heard of
any problems. I also asked about storing them with the elastic bands on
them and she said it will not hurt the film. I have been removing the
elastic bands as I notice them because I originally heard from someone
years ago that it destroys the film. However I have come across a
few with rotted elastics on them that didn't leave any marks on the film.

In regards to an earlier message about reproducing copies from
microcards, I called Capitol Copy Inc. (which is not how they answer the
phone) and left my name and number to have someone call me back two days
ago and I still haven't heard from them. I left my name with them
again yesterday and am still anxiously waiting. Is it because they
were overwhelmed with phone calls about microcard reproduction. I am
very curious on the price of a microcard reader printer, or the machine
they hook up to the microcard reader. In the last couple of days
our microcard card collection has been used by several different
patrons.

If anyone has any pricing information or a name of any other
company who may have a microcard printer please let us know.

        Thank you.
